Quinnipiac University

Overview

Quinnipiac University is a private nondenominational school in Hamden, Connecticut. There are six schools at Quinnipiac: the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Communications, School of Health Sciences, School of Law, and School of education.

The university was established in 1929. For a number of years, the college granted only associates degrees. In 1951, Quinnipiac began awarding bachelor's degrees. Twenty years later, Quinnipiac started offering master's degrees. In the mid-'90s, the American Bar Association allowed users to grant Juris Doctor degrees.

Academics

Quinnipiac is well known for its programs in arts and sciences, business, journalism, communications, and health sciences. Students can choose more than 50 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate programs.

Media

The university has its own commercial radio station that is run by professionals. There is also a student-run FM radio station that features streaming content online. There is a student-run television station that is available to on-campus viewers. The school's newspaper, The Chronicle has been publishing articles since 1929.

Polling Institute

The Quinnipiac Polling Institute is a research center that conducts independent surveys of United States residents. The Institute conducts public opinion polls that have received press in many national publications. The institute is funded by the university.
