Overview

The Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) is a private research university in Melbourne, Florida. The institute was established in 1958 and was originally named Brevard Engineering College. In 1966, the college was renamed. The student body includes both undergraduate and graduate students. There is a main campus and several satellite campuses in the following locations:

Academics

FIT offers degrees in fields related to science, engineering, and technology. The institute includes six colleges: College of Aeronautics, College of Engineering, College of Business, College of Psychology and Liberal Arts, College of Science, and University College. The various programs have received accreditations from committees including the American Chemical Society, the Southern Association of Colleges, and Schools, and the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The college also features an accredited aeronautical science and aviation management program.

Research

FIT has a strong research program that includes centers and research for energy systems, intellectual property, computing, materials science, nanotechnology, hydrogen research, biological research, biomedical research, and marine research.
