A baking school or a pastry school, usually part of a larger culinary school, teach students how to bake breads, cakes, rolls, and many other types of pastry foods. These schools, colleges, or universities make the students get ready for a job in a bakery as a pastry chef.

The normal tuition rate for a baking degree depends on the college or technical school. These rates usually run between $500-1,000 per semester. There are also schools which offer special training in the culinary arts or hospitality services. The cost varies with the schools and the private colleges cost substantially more than a state college. Some of the other costs associated with the degree include the white chef coat, specific kitchen utensils, and equipments that may be required to have on-hands practice.

You can avail associate degree in culinary arts from technical schools or community colleges. These add to the qualification of the students and make their job seeking process easier. Many culinary schools offer specialty courses in baking. These schools offer four-year bachelor degrees or two-year associate degrees. Some graduates from top private colleges go on to become world-famous chefs.

Testing & Preparation

If you are planning to join a baking degree program, then you need to have a minimum score in ACT or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). For students with an associate degree, some of these tests may be waived. Some of the technical and business schools will accept ACT and SAT scores. However, they also have their own tests and interviews to admit students into the courses.

Financial Aid

Baking schools that are accredited to technical schools, colleges, and universities may provide financial aid for their students. The financial aid usually comes in any combination of the following three forms either grants, scholarships, or loans.
