ACT Test Prep

Overview

The ACT is a one of the tests that many colleges use to check if you qualify for the program or degree for which you have applied. This test determines your knowledge in the subject areas you have covered in high school. The ACT is quite different from Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) because ACT measures your knowledge and the SAT measures your ability to reason. In contrast to the other tests, the ACT focuses more on the individual's subject knowledge.

Benefits

Colleges look at the ACT as an alternative to the SAT, but both have the same weight towards your application. Therefore, it's important to take the ACT seriously. Statistics show that students can raise their score by 2.2 points if they prepare.

The ACT consists of math, English, reading, science, and writing score, but you don't have to send all of the above to every college you apply. You only have to send the scores that the colleges request. You only have to take the writing portion of the ACT if the schools or the programs you are applying to require it. Even if you did not receive straight A's in high school, you can still score high on the ACT if you keep practicing.

Determine which areas you think may be difficult, concentrate on those areas first, and take as many self-assessment tests as possible. You can also try taking quizzes in areas where you feel you do not need any help. By doing so, you can get to know about all the types of questions that are possible on the ACT exam.

You can also enroll yourself in an ACT classroom course or online course, if necessary, where most sessions last about six weeks. If you find it difficult learning in a class, you can opt for a private or group tutor in your area. You can join as groups with friends and learns together.
